  • NRCME Training and Examination FAQs

We know you have questions about the training requirements and examination for the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME). Below are answers to our most frequently received questions.
    Last updated July 12, 2015.

Q: Is ACOEM offering education that meets the FMCSA training requirements?

A: Yes. ACOEM is an online training that will prepare you to sit for the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) certification examination.

Online training is delivered conveniently through your computer and is available 24/7. Learn more

Q: Can I take the exam online? Who is offering the exam?

A: ACOEM is not a testing organization. Testing organizations are listed on the NRCME website. Use the "Find a Testing Organization" search box to find the testing center nearest you.   For the best results, search using your zip code, not city and state.

Q: Where can I find more information on the NRCME?

A: You’ll want to bookmark the NRCME website for reference, where you can also sign-up for their mailing list and enroll in the registry. If you don’t want to wade through all that information we suggest viewing ACOEM’s webinar, “The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners: What this means for examiners” presented by Natalie Hartenbaum, MD, MPH. The webinar is available in the CDME Knowledge Center, along with other resources for medical examiners.
