Integrated health and safety (IHS) programming is a new concept that provides a better understanding of the connection between health and safety in the workplace. By implementing an IHS program, you can add to your organization’s success by helping employees live healthier, safer lives, with increased on-the-job satisfaction and, at the same time, have a positive impact on your organization’s bottom line.

ACOEM and UL (Underwriters Laboratories) have partnered to create an online course on this topic, titled “Fundamentals of Integrated Health and Safety,” that represents the best content on IHS concepts and programming available anywhere.

Featuring the nations’ top IHS experts, “Fundamentals of Integrated Health and Safety” is comprised of seven instructional modules, providing an understanding of how workplace health and safety programs can be made more impactful and effective by integrating them strategically. Modules 1 through 4 focus on the fundamentals of workplace health and productivity and workplace safety, offering advice on how to create and measure effective health and safety programming. Modules 5, 6 and 7 then offer a roadmap for integrating these programs together for greater impact, including how to create an overarching “culture of health and safety.”

Included is instruction in the use of the Integrated Health and Safety Index, a new tool that helps employers establish, measure and track integrated health and safety programming.
