ACOEM Urges EEOC Not to Restrict Incentive Wellness Program as Part of GINA Asks Members to Do the Same
Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA) contains a definition of a “voluntary” wellness program that will severely impair the effectiveness of these programs in the workplace. ACOEM has expressed trepidation to EEOC regarding this issue (see www.acoem.org/comments.aspx?id=6507), and is asking its members to also contact EEOC to urge that it not restrict the use of incentives to encourage employees to participate in wellness programs.

Treatment Guidelines for Injuries to Hand, Wrist and Forearm Now Available
Latest update to Occupational Medicine Practice Guidelines
ACOEM has published new medical treatment guidelines for providing care to workers with injuries of the hand, wrist and forearm. The new guidelines, which represent the latest chapter in ACOEM’s Occupational Medicine Practice Guidelines, are available on line now via ACOEM’s APG-I web application and will be included in the Third Edition which will be published mid 2010. The APG-I Subscription, includes an updated, more searchable interface that allows greater functionality of Chapters updated with ACOEM's improved Evidence-based Methodology and first access to ACOEM's 2009 Chapter Updates.
