Practice Guidelines

ACOEM’s Occupational Medicine Practice Guidelines define best practices for key areas of occupational medical care and disability management. They are intended to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the diagnostic process as well as identify the effectiveness and risks of individual treatments in resolving an illness or injury — helping workers return to normal activities as quickly and safely as possible.
 
Guidelines address:
  • Diagnosing injuries and illnesses likely to be work-related
  • Determining work-relatedness individually and collectively
  • Treating work-related health problems efficiently and effectively
  • Managing associated disability and work loss
  • Preventing work-related health problems and promoting health

Target audience:

  • Occupational and other physicians and other health care professionals; insurers; employers; attorneys; non-occupational specialists beginning to see injured workers in their practice; and all others with responsibility for or involvement in worker health and workers’ compensation systems

Seeking Assistant Editor for ACOEM Clinical Practice Guidelines

ACOEM and Reed Group are growing their team and seeking a board-certified occupational medicine physician (or closely related specialty) to serve as a remote Assistant Editor for ACOEM’s Clinical Practice Guidelines. The role supports the development of evidence-based, clinician-focused guidelines through critical review of scientific literature and collaboration with expert panels.
