Medical Review Officer Center

More than 70 percent of large private employers require drug and alcohol testing. Mandatory alcohol and drug testing is also now required of all interstate truckers, commercial driver's license holders, and other transportation workers in joint government agreements. The United States, Canada, and Mexico also monitor truckers crossing international borders.

MROs review results from drug and alcohol testing programs and evaluate medical explanations for certain results. ACOEM has long been the educational provider of choice for MROs through its online and in-person courses. More than 16,000 physicians have completed ACOEM’s highly acclaimed training and ACOEM has been the educational provider of choice for MROs since 1990.

ACOEM offers on demand training courses for Medical Review Officer (MRO) certification and MRO Assistant certification.

ACOEM’s MRO Online course qualifies you to sit for the MRO certification exam required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and many private companies doing drug and alcohol testing (e.g., more than 60 percent of large private employers require drug and alcohol testing). Additionally, in joint government agreements, the United States, Canada, and Mexico also monitor truckers crossing international borders.

ACOEM also offers on demand training for medical assistants who wish to improve their skills and their ability to support a Medical Review Officer in the practice.
