What is ACOEM?
The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) is the premier association of occupational and environmental medicine (OEM) physicians and other OEM health professionals in the world. The College was founded in 1916 by surgeons caring for the nation's workforce – today ACOEM has grown into the world's largest organization of OEM physicians and health professionals who bring a variety of disciplines to the practice of OEM.
Who Can Join ACOEM?
Regular Active Membership
Open to doctors of medicine or osteopathic medicine who have an interest in occupational and/or environmental medicine. National dues are $390. Please fax a copy of your medical degree and license at the time of application.
Associate Membership
Open to non-physicians who have attained the doctorate level degree of PhD, ScD, DrPH, or EdD in occupational and environmental health disciplines. National dues are $225. Please provide documentation of your doctorate degree at the time of application.
Affiliate Membership
Open to non-physicians working in a field related to occupational and environmental medicine, who have a master’s level degree in a related field, are certified Physician Assistants, licensed Nurse Practitioners or Certified Occupational Health Nurses. Please provide documentation of your PA certificate, NP license, COHN certificate or masters-level degree at time of application. National dues are $225.
Student/Resident Membership
Open to full-time medical students, interns, or residents with an interest in occupational and environmental medicine. National dues are $35. Students/residents must provide documentation of their full-time enrollment.
ACOEM Component Societies
All ACOEM members are required to join a component society where one is available. You are assigned to a component society based on your work address, but may request membership in an adjacent component society. See the membership application for a list of component society fees.
- Members residing outside the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico are considered “Direct” members and pay no component dues.
- Component dues are waived for Student/Resident members.
Important Membership Fee Information
- A one-time $40 application fee is required with all new applications for membership (except student/resident applications).
- The ACOEM dues year runs from January 1 through December 31. We will begin your 2010 membership immediately.
- Dues (including component society fees) are payable in full at the time of application.
